Merkel wants to repatriate her guests to Italy. If she wants to repatriate these people, they should be sent to country of birth. Repatriate meaning - send (someone) back to their own country.

Repatriate meaning - send (someone) back to their own country. No it doesn't. From the dictionary: "to send or bring someone, or sometimes money or other property, back to the country that he, she, or it came from" Note "came from" not "country of birth".

I guess it depends which source you use.

Well done Italy, its a pity you didnt close the Brenner Pass at the end of the second world war, allowing escaping nazis to flee to pastures new with the help of the vatican, nevermind, nothing but low hanging fruit, uncle sam had already cherrypicked the top ones and gave them safe passage to the land of the free, helping them avoid the nuremberg trials.
Wonder what simon wiesenthal has to say about that.

Previous agreements, agreements from a few months ago? Paper it was written on only good for cleaning your bum?

Unlike some suggest not related to alcohol consumption but to politics and of course populism. After all what would politicians do if they can't blame someone else for what they can't deliver.

A fair position to be in is it not?
