Well, in a broadcasted interview Trump expressly stated he would shutdown government, he would be responsible for that. Now that it happened he's trying to shift the blame (of course). All I want for Christmas is a government shutdown and no paycheck. Merry Christmas you all "Trump Christmas Shutdown To Last At Least 5 Days — Unless He Caves First President Donald Trump’s partial government shutdown over the border wall that he had originally promised Mexico would pay for will now likely last through Christmas and beyond." www.yahoo.com/huffpost/trump-christmas-shutdown-last-least-204056159.html"Trump Says Democrats 'Own The Shutdown' That He Said He'd Own Last Week President Donald Trump is now blaming Democratic lawmakers for a looming government shutdown ― even though he already said he would take full responsibility. The Democrats now own the shutdown!” the president tweeted on Friday. " www.yahoo.com/huffpost/trump-says-democrats-apos-own-163335281.html"Trump Battles With Nancy Pelosi And Chuck Schumer Over Border Wall Funding “I don’t think we should have a debate in front of the press on this,” House Minority Leader Pelosi said after several minutes of arguing. In an explosive White House meeting on Tuesday, President Donald Trump, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) sparred in front of reporters over Trump’s continued threat to shut down the government for border wall funding. “I will be the one to shut it down,” Trump said. “I will take the mantle of shutting it down ... I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck.”" www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-pelosi-schumer-border-wall_us_5c0fefc2e4b00e17a5337320

"US government shutdown begins as talks falter over Trump’s border wall ‘We are totally prepared for a very long shutdown,’ Donald Trump tells reporters. ;;; The shutdown will hit a number of Cabinet departments, including Agriculture, Commerce, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Justice, State, Transportation and Treasury. NASA and the Food and Drug Administration are also affected. But the full impact of the shutdown won't be felt over the weekend, and both Monday and Tuesday are federal holidays for government employees. ..." www.politico.eu/article/trumps-border-wall-government-shutdown-begins-as-talks-falter/

Of course, it's totally unfair to remind Trump of what he said in 2013. Instead we should praise him for improving his golf handicap. "Asked Who 'Gets Fired' In An Obama Shutdown, Trump Told Fox News: The President President Donald Trump believes responsibility for a government shutdown goes straight to the top, right to the president’s office. At least that’s what he said on Fox News — when he was talking about Barack Obama in 2013. Trump revealed his views when he was asked on “Fox & Friends” about a pending government shutdown which occurred over a funding battle in October that year." www.yahoo.com/huffpost/asked-apos-gets-fired-apos-021449862.html

Before I forget, Merry Christmas to you too, Mr. President. "Trump's 'Merry Christmas' pledge fails to manifest at his own businesses Despite railing against political correctness, the word ‘Christmas’ is curiously absent from Trump’s stores, restaurants and hotels During Donald Trump’s presidential campaign he talked often about his determination to win one particular war. A war that had been raging for years, he said. Specifically: the war on Christmas. But despite Trump’s repeated claims that “people are saying Merry Christmas again” instead of the more inclusive “happy holidays”, there are several places where the Christmas greeting is absent: Trump’s own businesses. The Trump Store, for example. Instead of a Christmas gift guide – which surely would be more in keeping with the president’s stated desire for the phrase to be used – the store offers a holiday gift guide." www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/dec/23/trump-war-on-christmas-happy-holidays-businesses

The unpaid government workers really don't mind not being paid for Christmas and weeks to come. Trump said they told him so. BTW although Trump stated a week ago he would own the shutdown, it would be his shutdown, somehow whenever he twits about it "democrat' is inserted as in 'democrat shutdown'. Someone should warn twitter as Trump has the right to the honour. PS just in case you missed it Trump twittered "AMERICA IS RESPECTED AGAIN!" "Trump claims 'many' furloughed or unpaid federal workers want wall, support gov't shutdown ... President Donald Trump argued Tuesday that federal workers support his position in the fight with Democrats over billions of dollars in funding for the border wall, four days into a partial government shutdown with no clear end in sight. "Many of those workers have said to me and communicated, ‘stay out until you get the funding for the wall,’" he said, when asked for his message to the hundreds of thousands of federal workers either furloughed or working without pay. "These federal workers want the wall,” he added. “The only one that doesn't want the wall are the Democrats.”" www.yahoo.com/gma/trump-claims-many-furloughed-unpaid-federal-workers-want-221200492--abc-news-topstories.html

At first I thought Trump was trying the Caesarian trick of giving the Armies a 10% raise in order to buy their loyalty, but luckily it's just the normal lies from #dearDonaldTrump "Trump Brags To Troops About A Fictional Giant Pay Raise He Got Them During his first visit to a combat zone since assuming office nearly two years ago, President Donald Trump couldn’t help but take personal credit for a very generous and fictional pay raise for U.S. troops. The president told service members at al-Asad air base in Iraq that he was proud to secure them a much-needed pay bump of “more than 10 percent” after years of stagnant wages. Many of the troops in attendance may have been surprised to learn they hadn’t seen a pay increase in more than a decade. “Is anybody here willing to give up the big pay raise you just got?” Trump said, asking for a show of hands. “You haven’t gotten one in more than 10 years. More than 10 years. And we got you a big one. I got you a big one. I got you a big one.” In fact, military members have seen a pay raise in each of the last 10 years, ranging from 1 percent to 3.9 percent, according to the Defense Department. They even saw pay bumps when other federal workers were subjected to a three-year pay freeze in the wake of the Great Recession." news.yahoo.com/trump-brags-troops-fictional-giant-040407952.html

Meanwhile in the new banana republic of America the Christmas present of the Government Shutdown seems to have been extended to be a "Holiday Seasons" present what with the end being near but next year and not this year. Sarah Sanders, the While House Spokes Liar has said Trump is willing to negotiate and Trump shows that by threatening to just close the complete Mexican - US border. After all Mexico is only the third largest trading partner and the right Americans stand behind him saying they'd rather forgo their paycheck every week than give in (allegedly, Trump didn't twit this (yet) ). Trump upped his negotiation tactics by threatening the new trade agreement between the USA and Mexico BTW as some departments of the government are really shutdown good we will not get economic figures to show how successful Trump is in making America great again. Oh, although Trump said he'd own the shutdown of course is the Democrats fault. "Donald Trump threatened to close the U.S.-Mexico border on Friday as he sought to shift blame for a partial federal government shutdown that appears likely to stretch into 2019 over funding for the president’s proposed border wall. “We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with,” Trump said on Twitter." finance.yahoo.com/news/shutdown-likely-2019-trump-fumes-120007048.html"Trump Threatens to Close Southern Border Entirely and End Trade Deals Unless Wall Is Funded" s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/oO8T2Mb89W5O5DtsRe9wEQ--~A/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjtzbT0xO3c9MTAyNDtoPTY4Mg--/https://media.zenfs.com/en-US/rollingstone.com/108b533afcbcf32729e599b7419d816dwww.yahoo.com/entertainment/trump-threatens-close-southern-border-184021930.html

within the group of 800,000 government workers effected by the Trump shutdown some, a very small percentage allegedly, might need help paying the rent and so. Some not closed down part of the government came with 'useful' suggestions. DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A JOKE !!! "Agency: Government workers could do painting or carpentry work to help pay rent during shutdown ... The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has offered federal workers affected by the partial government shutdown a guide for negotiating with creditors, landlords and mortgage companies while their income is cut off. The Thursday tweet notes that workers should consult with a "personal attorney" for advice but offers templates for how one might seek financial assistance for various financial obligations. Among the suggested strategies: A furloughed employee might offer to trade maintenance services such as painting or carpentry work in exchange for a reduction in rent. ... The OPM's tweet linked to a guide offering multiple sample letters that could be used to seek financial assistance. One such letter asks a creditor to reduce a monthly payment: "As we discussed, I am a Federal employee who has recently been furloughed due to a lack of funding of my agency. Because of this, my income has been severely cut and I am unable to pay the entire cost of my monthly payments, along with my other expenses." It concludes: "I appreciate your willingness to work with me and your understanding during this difficult time." " news.yahoo.com/agency-government-workers-could-painting-040207181.html

As we all know Trump is not only concerned about walls but also about having a 'sustainable government budget'. Already indicated in a proposal and notice to Congress in August Trump now signed an executive order to freeze pay for federal workers in 2019. And a happy New Year to you too. "Trump moves to freeze pay for federal workers amid government shutdown Amid the current partial government shutdown, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to freeze pay for federal workers in 2019. The move is consistent with Trump's budget proposal and a notice to Congress in August, when he cited "serious economic conditions" in cutting pay to civilian workers. “We must maintain efforts to put our nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases,” he said at the time. Trump signed the executive order late Friday afternoon. The military would not be affected." news.yahoo.com/trump-moves-freeze-pay-federal-190018678.html

Actually I feel a bit sorry for good 'ol Trump.
I mean there we have this 72 year old man stuck in the White House with a Security Service detail who don't get paid for the moment and with his wife, son(s) and other close family having fun in Mar-del-Lago and tomorrow there the New Year's Eve dinner with lots of friends and other guests who paid $1000 for the privilege of not having the President around.
Sad, really.

As we all know dearDonaldTrump is a superduper negotiator, never makes a mistake and America is lucky, real lucky to have him. Somehow though it's as if his staff is less up to it. Mind you with staff dearDonald selected himself one may wonder what his selection criteria are. Anyway, it may be we soon have Trump select another 'acting chief of staff'. After all he hasn't fired someone for at least a week or so. That's leaving out the 800,000 furloughed workers who either wait at home or work for 'no money'. We even had "White House Chief Economic Adviser Kevin Hassett suggested that the nearly 800,000 furloughed workers are “better off” on what he calls an extended vacation." I guess we're now waiting for an offer of reduced fees at Trump golf courses. "Trump Reportedly Flays Mick Mulvaney In Shutdown Meeting: 'You Just F**ked It All Up'" news.yahoo.com/trump-reportedly-flays-mick-mulvaney-083819674.html"As longest-ever shutdown drags on, federal worker protest grows As the U.S. government shutdown continues into day 24 — the longest in history — opposition from affected workers is escalating. At the same time, the White House Chief Economic Adviser Kevin Hassett suggested that the nearly 800,000 furloughed workers are “better off” on what he calls an extended vacation. Others disagree. dearDonaldTrump showed himself the master negotiator again. It's marvelous. You may condense it to "you give me what I want and I'll return what I took before". "Trump proposes wall-for-DACA in bid to end shutdown U.S. President Donald Trump proposed an immigration deal on Saturday in a bid to end a 29-day partial government shutdown, including temporary protections for "Dreamers" and other immigrants, but Democrats immediately dismissed it. Insisting on his demand for $5.7 billion to fund a U.S.-Mexico border barrier as part of any bill to fully reopen the government, Trump sought to pile pressure on Democrats by appealing to immigrants they have tried to help. In a speech from the White House, Trump offered three years of protections for young undocumented immigrants known as "Dreamers," as well as for holders of temporary protected status (TPS), another class of immigrants. Decrying what he called a "badly broken" U.S. immigration system, Trump said, "I am here today to break the logjam and provide Congress with a path forward to end the government shutdown and solve the crisis along the southern border."" www.yahoo.com/news/trump-propose-immigration-compromise-end-shutdown-source-160838537--business.html

Big Bully getting ugly. Of course, our master twitter mostly knows how to phrase to be able to say "I never said that". Accountability is only for others, not for dearDonaldTrump. So, we're still at the "You give me my wall and I'll give you back some things I took before and we'll talk about if you can keep it". At least he didn't add "trust me". "Trump suggests he could deport 11 million migrants if he doesn’t get border wall funding in veiled shutdown threat: ‘Be careful Nancy’ Donald Trump has implied he could launch a “big push” to deport millions of illegal immigrants if he does not get $5.6bn funding for his border wall, in a veiled threat to Democrats over the US government shutdown. As the partial shutdown – triggered by the president’s failure to agree with Democrats a government funding bill if it does not contain money for a wall – entered its 30th day, he warned speaker Nancy Pelosi to “be careful” after she and Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer rejected “compromises” he had offered to end the stalemate." news.yahoo.com/trump-suggests-could-deport-11m-164519511.html
