What with Britain somewhat undecided on what and how, the EU27 tries to prepare for the worst and have it's (remaining) member states ready. "Brussels takes a festive break, but the EU27 are busy planning a no-deal new year Member states are hiring customs staff, building barriers and helping companies find new markets Don’t let the festive lull fool you: behind-the-scenes, no-deal Brexit contingency planning is accelerating around the EU. With not even 100 days before Britain leaves, and Downing Street ramping up its no-deal planning, the European commission last week unveiled bare-bones plans to keep flights in the air and money flowing should the UK crash out, warning that it would take all necessary steps to limit disruption for its members. A temporary nine-month regime, which the bloc can terminate unilaterally, would allow UK airlines to fly to the continent and back but not between EU cities. It would allow EU banks to clear transactions in the City, and allow British trucks to deliver goods into the EU. The EU’s executive arm also urged member states to be “generous” in protecting basic rights for the more than one million Britons on the continent by granting temporary residence permits to give them some security as they try to resolve their long-term status." www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/22/eu-nations-planning-no-deal-brexit-customs-trade

A Christmas gift for Nigel Farange, his wife and children "UK nationals in Berlin assured of residency in event of no Brexit deal Britons promised a ‘very generous’ offer though not told what status they would get British nationals living in Berlin have been reassured that an urgent registration process to secure legal status will be in place for them in the event of the UK leaving the EU with no deal. Worried Britons who attended a meeting hosted by the British embassy said they felt relief that the state authorities had been able to go further than the European commission, whose no-deal planning announced this week made them feel abandoned." www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/22/uk-nationals-in-berlin-given-assurance-of-residency-in-event-of-no-brexit-deal

The realization of the hard financial and social costs to The Netherlands, Germany and France are shown below. In truth cordial relationships are vital for all concerned, the Brussels Nazis rant on but the truth is they are no more than paper tigers full of as Churchill once said, ''p**s and wind'' or to be more realistic booze and wind. Noe that the ongoing aggressive rhetoric emanates from Brussels and their lapdogs. The result of the E U 27 putting all their eggs in one basket, which they were told and in fact reassured was invincible has been proved to be a wonderfully artistic work of fiction woven by and then produced by the would be European dictators. A no-deal Brexit (hard Brexit) will cost the Dutch government 2.3 billion euros (NOS). These statistics have come from the Court of Audit. And that’s not the only money that will be lost. however, that’s not all the money that will be lost. 1.6 billion euros will go to the EU as an additional payment as the UK has left. In 2026, this will increase to 2.5 – 3 million. German firms would have to pay more than three billion euros in customs duties in the case of a hard Brexit, and UK-EU trade could be halved the Cologne-based German Economic Institute (IW) says. Although the bulk of the consequences will impact the profit of firms, consumers in Germany could face higher prices on products as companies react to the shake-up to trade in Europe. It came as the German government on Thursday slashed its growth forecasts for 2018 and 2019, blaming "a weaker international trade environment" for sapping the export powerhouse, AFP reports. www.euractiv.com/section/uk-europe/news/french-businesses-prepare-for-a-no-deal-brexitwww.thelocal.de/20181011/horror-scenario-how-brexit-could-affect-germanydutchreview.com/news/eu/a-no-deal-brexit-will-cost-the-dutch-government-billions/

The EU27 is preparing as best as possible for a situation they don't like but are accepting if somewhat reluctantly. The drop out of Britain hurts both sides, one of those side didn't chose it but accepts its part of the rules set up.
As such its understandable that the EU27 doesn't really feel sorry for what it will hurt and costs Britain. Anyway Britain will be a non-EU country like India or Morocco soon, less than 100 days.

The agreements with Singapore seem to be the most advanced as dating April 2018 ( trade.ec.europa.eu/doclib/press/index.cfm?id=961 ). Negotiations with Mexico are also almost concluded, some 'legal scrubbing' to be done and maybe the E.U. feels Mexico should build a wall on it's North border
