That was the one Texas Lone Star as you said, ''on the ,'' The rooms as far as I recall were more used as entertainment boudoirs by the girls at the bar as opposed to long staying guests. Some characters abounded the place in those days too. Remember one nicknamed ''Gator.''Always wanting a couple of hundred baht to get to the job he was staring the next day i Lad Krabang, married, lovely child but he was a soak. Carried a rather unpleasant knife tucked down his socks and I'm told could be rather unpleasant if riled, just like a alligastor, hence his nickname. Last I ver heard was that he was living rough, wife and child gone..

Sorry to be late replying sp, only just seen it. So it was the Lone Star the first of the row. The one I stayed in (once only) a few doors down was a shithole, the rooms anyway. English Paul (later) for a while of Chequers was manager.
