22 January 1969. Pete took an hour off from recording Tommy with The Who at IBC Studios in Portland Place, London to be filmed in a nine-minute interview with John Peel for Dutch TV channel Netherland 2.
"We were told that the Dutch can't say 'Who' so could we say 'Woo'", said John Peel later. "Tell me, Pete, what are your plans for The Woo?" "Well, John The Woo aren't just a singles group and I'm working on a rock opera especially for The Woo!" "A Woo opera, eh Pete? Strong stuff and so on." We stood in Hyde Park trying to keep straight faces, attracting an audience of owls. Ah, memorable days."
