There are obviously so many factors here, like how many windows and what exact direction. But in general, with the criteria being to keep your condo cool, do you think corner units that will be in the sun almost the entire day can counteract that effect by being able to open diagonal, crossflow windows? Which wins in your experience? My initial impression was to stay away from the corners, but then again airflow seems it would be one of the top factors. It seems like the walls could even hold heat into the night being in the sun that long as well. No answer without knowing more details, but maybe some if you have lived in these corner units?

I thought orientation would be more of a factor than whether or not it is on a corner. But then again what would I know.

The more outside walls one has exposed to the sun the greater the heat entrapment, you might and I stress ''MIGHT'' gain from a corner site if the winds blow the right way all the time but reality dictates that it is invariably not the case. My advice (for what it is worth) is based upon experience from many a year back if in a condo try to ensure that you have a very small facing the elements outward facing wall or walls, the less the better.

Yeah, I tend to agree with you. Also to consider is that in Thailand you probably do not want your windows open all the time, so you are just getting the cooking sun without the benefits in those cases. We have a unit near us in our se facing building that it honestly seems like is in the sun the entire day, and i mean it too the entire day. It would be horrible.

An exposed south east facing condo would be a killer, especially if you are also exposed to the usual multitude of air con condensers pumping out extra hot air.
