2011 was the last Space Shuttle flight. Since NASA (i.e. America) relied on Russian Soyuz to get people to ISS, the International Space Station. About 2014 NASA funded Boeing and SpaceX to develop new 'domestic' capabilities. Schedule still shows 2019 as the year for this to happen but there are some dark clouds. NASA is trying to get some backup seats from Russia. Commercial thinking has increased the ticket price from $20m to $80m, but that a matter of supply and demand which Americans can understand. Still luckily Boeing and SpaceX are public companies and don't need to change their goals after each election. The last decade NASA has seen billions of $$ wasted because of government refocus (Moon, Mars, Moon again). AS for current problems with the new under development 'crewed' capsules, well would you get into a train or aeroplane if there was a 1 in 200 chance you'd crash? Would you reconsider at 1 in 1000? The ISS flies over my house twice a week. I wave and they never wave back. Ignorant sods.
