How to make America great and respected again? Bully anyone who disagrees. "US to deny visas for ICC members investigating alleged war crimes Washington also threatened economic sanctions if war crimes court goes ahead with inquiry into US troops in Afghanistan The United States has announced it will revoke or deny visas to members of the International Criminal Court involved in investigating the actions of US troops in Afghanistan or other countries. The US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, said Washington was prepared to take further steps, including economic sanctions, if the war crimes court goes ahead with any investigations of US or allied personnel. “The ICC is attacking America’s rule of law,” Pompeo told reporters. “It’s not too late for the court to change course and we urge that it do so immediately.”" www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/mar/15/mike-pompeo-us-war-crimes-investigation-international-criminal-court

How to make America great and respected again? Respected again? Where did that come from? It never has been respected, other than in its people's own minds.

There were a few times in the last century America was really respected and it was respected what she did or made possible. That's even apart from WW-I and WW-II. Also I think it is possible to respect people and/or a country even if you do not agree with them.

Also I think it is possible to respect people and/or a country even if you do not agree with them. It's a kind of overall thing. A country which has historically treated its Negro population so badly, and continues to do so. A country which has imprisoned Japanese just because of their race. A country where people die for lack of access to free medical care. A country of massive, nay obscene, inequality of wealth. A country that interferes in the affairs of other countries and wages pointless foreign wars. A country which bans religion in school (good), yet 90% or the population still believes in an invisible sky wizard. A country which has inflicted health-harming junk food across much of the globe. A country which developed weapons which went on to be used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A country where Fox News is widely considered a reliable news source. A country that elects presidents such as Nixon, Bushes 1 & 2, Reagan, (and yes, inevitably) Trump. Yes, it's possible to admire America for putting a man on the moon. And their (rather belated) help in the European wars, was OK. But on balance, what is there to respect?

Research and development, technology, innovation, entrepreneurial achievements, not being argumentative just a few suggestions.
I think your description while being fairly accurate paints a picture that is a touch too bleak.
Not sure about WWI but WWII could not have been won without them.

Research and development, technology, innovation, entrepreneurial achievements, not being argumentative just a few suggestions. Not sure how much longer that will continue. USA ranks: 14th in education behind South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Finland, United Kingdom*, Canada, Netherlands, Ireland, Poland, and others. 2nd in general ignorance (only Italians are more ignorant) 24th in literacy 23rd in PISA science score 54th in education expenditures (on a par with Belize and Jamaica) 18th in reading 134th for government commitment to education 29th in science So much for "USA #1". Source: rankingamerica.wordpress.com/category/education/page/6/* and I thought UK education was now dire.

Just check back in history to see just what the Americans demanded from the English in scientific technology, engineering technology and intelligence etc as their price for providing support in W W 2.
Then note just how many high ranking Nazis were spirited out of the European theatre and into the scientific, medical and a variety of other safe haven fields that enabled a ''backwards'' America to catch up with the rest of the world.
Ask just what assistance was given to the new state of Isreal from those Nazis when Isreal set up its military and intelligence services, all as part of American assistance.
Scratch the surface and you'll see just how America advanced on the back of war criminals, indeed America fears and thus abhors the ICC, America has a very dirty past as well as a present besmirched reputation. Future America looks somewhat tarnished too.

Well I never said they were perfect.
But don't you think that if they hadn't got the Nazi Scientists the Russians would have.

The Russians got a fair collection of German experts along with a terrific amount of documents too.
Bear in mind that Roosevelt had conspired with Stalin to carve up what remained of the British empire after the cessation of hostilities.
That plan failed due to the demise of Roosevelt, some say at the hand of British intelligence, with the tacit approval of powerful Americans, Stalin had mesmerised him (Roosevelt) and all but controlled him, Roosevelt had to go..
