However it does seem as if in the case of the Ethiopian Airlines crash some blame can be attached to the airline due to the facts emerging that the pilot and I presume the crew had had no training on the Boeing 737 simulator that Ethiopian Airlines have.
Possibly, had there been some simulator training the mishap might(and I stress might) never had happened as the design or computer fault may have shown up in the training sessions, thus enabling the pilot(s) to cope with the issue.

Seems the 737 MAX was sold as being so similar to the 'normal' 737s that transition for experienced 737 pilots was just an hour or so with an online training.
It would also seem that in the case of the Lion Air crash last year it's said Lion Air didn't buy two extra safety features. Boeing had listed those as 'optional'.
Cancellations for the 737 MAX are starting but the only comparable plane is the Airbus 321NEO which has a six or seven year waiting list. Boeing may still be lucky as customers are more likely to switch to other Boeing planes although Boeing's profit margin will most likely crash through the floor.

Those who cancel will be replaced by those a little further down the list, as orders are lined up for a few years any change would only come after that and there is no real replacement that is as flexible and economical. It really is comparable with last years and the newest toyota hi ace. A wee difference in speed and weight but controls and procedures almost all the same.

Seems as if Boeing regard safety as an optional extra much as some of the buyers and operators of the Boeing 737MAX who seem happy with economising on prices too. Perhaps investigations should spread to encompass those airline operators who it seems to deem passenger, crew, and public safety an optional extra. www.rt.com/news/454489-boeing-737-max-optional-extras/?utm
