It seems the Papa is waiting on the verdict of the appeal.
Convicted of not reporting abuse? None of them reported abuse so why is he the only one charged?

It only makes sense. It's really necessary for the Roman Catholic church to have plenty of senior clerics who are willing to overlook child sexual abuse by priests. After all, there are a lot of sexually frustrated clergy who like to take sick pleasure from little girls and boys, and presumably now very few individuals prepared to turn a blind eye to the awful behaviour. Can't afford to lose another clerical Nelson.
Must protect the Bishop of Rome and his criminal enterprise, with its obscene wealth and ludicrous beliefs, at all costs. (They makes the Mafia look like saints.)
