Nigel Farange seems to have taking a leaf out of the WH playbook. Summons? Not me. Being elected doesn't mean there's a need to follow rules, responsibility and accountability? Why, I've been elected! How dare you request me to appear for a kangaroo court! Welcome to the Trumpian world where being elected means you are above the law unlike common people of course. BTW Banks himself has confirmed those allegations, he or his company probably even deducted it from his taxes. "Farage rejects European Parliament summons over undisclosed gifts Brexit Party leader says he won’t appear before ‘EU kangaroo court.’ ... “What is this but an EU kangaroo court where I am given 24 hours' notice about allegations picked up from press stories," Farage said in a statement, denying any wrongdoing. ... "If they try to bar me from the building, who else gives voice to the thousands of people who voted for me? Is this democracy EU style?" Farage said in the statement." www.politico.eu/article/farage-rejects-european-parliament-summons-over-undisclosed-gifts/The last statement from Nigel is pure demagogy. Start with "'if" and continue assuming it's "when". Also remove all context as inconvenient. Use all that to (tty to) make the others look bad.

“What is this but an EU kangaroo court where I am given 24 hours' notice about allegations picked up from press stories," He does have a point. Note also "He was not under any obligation to appear before the committee" (from www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-48516348 ).

“What is this but an EU kangaroo court where I am given 24 hours' notice about allegations picked up from press stories," He does have a point. Note also "He was not under any obligation to appear before the committee" (from www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-48516348 ). One would assume that MEP Nigel Farage would rather like the opportunity to explain his view on the matter to the committee. After all his good name is under discussion and what with the new European Parliament opening soon all want to have a clean start I would assume and have all paperwork of the previous session accounted for and filed. Of course, we know Nigel Farage is a busy man, after all he's an elected Member of the European Parliament. Busy people, worth the GBP 90,000 a year they're paid. He did indeed not need to appear in person to explain himself, seems though he forgot to provide info in writing to the committee. There's only the "The Brexit Party leader has said he did not declare the £450,000 sum to the assembly because at the time, he was about to leave politics and had been seeking a new life in the US." and the 'about to leave' is not really sufficient explanation or justification. So all in all we just have a 'man of the people' who forgot to mention half a million in services received while being a (well) paid-for MEP. Seems the 'responsible and accountable' doesn't count for the like of Nigel Farage. I'm not a betting man, but I guess the committee may recommend against dear Nigel after which Nigel will complain again. Possibly he'll mention political motivation, always sounds good to his supporters. Being held accountable is absolutely political motivated. As all know politicians are just in it for the good of other people. PS none of the above explains why Nigel F. was talking about a kangaroo court. There's no court involved, there's a committee open to any information Nigel may present them with. Seems Nigel is just blustering for local consumption.
