I knew a Brit and his wife who lived on Samui for ten years on the back of renting out their central London council flat all whilst claiming dole etc.

Is this tale apocryphai? If it is 100% true there may be some local or UK media reports to substantiate it.

Well for some as long as the issue conveys bad news and slights others that is their criteria for posting. Good news doesn't sell newspapers, but surely, The Mango is not a newspaper, thus doom and gloom is nor was not ever a necessary ingredient.

I vaguely remember there was a time when some loved to be the first to report here yet another terrorist attack. As for 'doom and gloom', I understand topics like 'brexit' makes Brits uncomfortable whereas as European I have no problem to admit that the E.U. is far from perfect.
Anyway, I don't see why a police action on some of the more beautiful Islands of Thailand should make people here feel bad or slighted. Upright citizens normally love it when the Police Force does its appointed job.
