Ban of single use plastic bags without offering alternatives probably caused a lot of people to complain. That's why 7-11 came with the 'use me' idea ... after a few days.

"Activist: Customers' rights infringed by plastic bag ban
Activist Srisuwan Janya has accused retailers of violating consumers' rights in ceasing to hand out single-use plastic bags while failing to offer suitable alternatives.

Mr Srisuwan said the move allowed major stores to eliminate the cost of providing plastic bags from Jan 1, and to pass the burden to their customers.

"Some operators took the opportunity to unreasonably raise the prices of alternative containers, and consumers have no choice but to buy them."

In a private hospital here they now have notices reading "Say no to paper bags". It's all getting rather silly. It also underlines my belief that this is nothing to do with the environment, and everything to do with company profits.

I agree with the idea, I even bought a Foodland bag months ago in readiness for this move. The colour complements my fishermens kecks, I only wish I had a manbun to top it all off.

But the problem aint the plastic bag so much, it is all the plastic packaging that goes into it.
