The article's headline "... catching protected marine species" is completely unsupported by the article (and, indeed, other articles reporting the same heinous crimes). As PADI instructors are wont to say "take only memories, leave only bubbles". Pretty sure they aren't being deported for catching protected species.
Anyway, they were clearly abusing the law, working without work permits, so good riddance to them.
The bit that made me laugh, however, is the final sentence "Thailand always welcomes law-abiding visitors", whilst long term, law abiding residents aren't able to come back here.

They posted themselves diving and prodding and poking the animals on social media. That's was on Thai TV down here a few days ago. My Mrs told me, to which I said. "Well that's bloody stupid of themselves."

Ah, a sub species of farang even lower down the totem pole of respectability than TEFLrs. All the ex sbs types and former north sea diver types.
