Personally i don't think Boris Johnson really meant to say that the E.U. could just carve up the U.K. Unless he meant the wearing down by years of negotiations leading to nowhere. "Brussels could 'carve up' UK if Tories reject Brexit bill, says Johnson PM claims internal market bill is needed to counter EU ‘threats’ to put a blockade in Irish Sea Boris Johnson has said his controversial legislation to override parts of his Brexit deal is needed to end EU threats to install a “blockade” in the Irish Sea. The prime minister said Brussels could “carve up our country” and “seriously endanger peace and stability” in Northern Ireland if Conservative MPs rebel to block the internal market bill. Johnson is working to quell a plan to amend the legislation from senior Tories who are angry that it could break international law by overriding the withdrawal agreement signed with the EU last year." www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/sep/11/brussels-could-carve-up-uk-if-tories-reject-brexit-bill-says-johnson

Personally i don't think Boris Johnson really meant to say that the E.U. could just carve up the U.K. That is exactly what he meant and said. He was referring to the EU interfering in the free movement of goods and services between mainland Britain and Northern Ireland. He wrote "the EU will use an extreme interpretation of the Northern Ireland protocol to impose a full-scale trade border down the Irish Sea." That's carving up the UK.

He wrote "the EU will use an extreme interpretation of the Northern Ireland protocol to impose a full-scale trade border down the Irish Sea." That's carving up the UK. Please help me remember, wasn't the Withdrawal Agreement which BoJo c.s. rammed through parliament (British parliament that is), described as 'oven ready' by said BoJo? Do you really want to tell me he was lying? Not to worry though, the Australian version 'free trade deal' (aka WTO terms only) is even better according to the PM Furthermore the first step has been made in a 'better than before' free trade deal with Japan. "A little ray of light shone on “Global Britain” from the U.K.’s new and improved rollover trade deal with Japan, which was agreed in principle on Friday and is the first independent deal the U.K. has signed after leaving the EU. It's not only a welcome diversion from Britain’s troubled negotiations with the EU on their future relationship but also a big win for U.K. Trade Secretary Liz Truss who, from a political perspective, is seen carrying the flag of Britain’s future out of the EU through the agreement (in principle, for now) with Japan’s Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu. The deal, which took a little over three months to conclude, is expected to be signed soon and its text will be available in October. ... The deal is not expected to improve on the 0.07 percent increase (some £1.5 billion over the long term) to British GDP from the agreement forecast by the government." www.politico.eu/article/five-things-from-the-uks-trade-deal-with-japan/BTW 2019 trade from Britain to the E.U. 27 v.v. was 672 Billion

The Shetland Isles and Orkney will vote for Independence from Scotland, if Scotland votes for independence from the rest of UK.

Correct. I was referring to the 'set-up' though, the administrative part as it were.

Correct. I was referring to the 'set-up' though, the administrative part as it were. IIRC that part of Scotland voted heavily against independence from the UK. Perhaps they'll ask to be part of England and Wales. Oh they have oil as well.
