So the gf and I are considering living together in one of her family’s condos, which means that we both don’t pay rent. We were thinking about using the money we save to invest.
I’m not really confident about the property market in Bangkok, unless Covid drives down the prices a lot (but even then...).
How would you invest that money, in terms of (a) assets/vehicles and (b) legal/ownership setup.
Talking about total of THB 60k per month here, or THB 720k per year, so not a lot. We aren’t married (and don’t plan to get married in future).

(1) Why do you want to invest? (Serious question.) Why not simply improve your current standard of living by eating in fancier restaurants, buying nicer clothes and accessories &c., &c..
(2) Why do you see this as investing "as a couple"? However great things may seem at the moment, there's a probability that you will, in time, go separate ways. Better to keep things separate at this stage than to have a messy disentanglement. This also means that when it comes to question (1), you and your partner may have different reasons for wanting to invest.
(3) As for vehicles, assuming you live in Bangkok, is it really worth it with the terrible road conditions here? Better to hire a vehicle for the occasional long distance trip if you need to, and otherwise get around by Grab or public transport.

I agree with all three points but especially with point number 3, given Bangkok's system of transport and the low cost of taxi's, buying a vehicle is a waste of money.

My best advice to you, keep you and your girlfriends affairs seperate, no doubt you love her and she loves you, but neither of you know what the future holds.
I am not saying that to be cynical, but base it on at least 3 Thai friends I know, the men own nothing, the house is in their mothers name etc etc. Be thankful Thailand does not recognise de facto relationships.
For me personally, there is nothing in Thailand I would consider investing in, so that leaves farangland.
I think there are bargains to be had in the UK FTSE, some of these companies are down 40+%, if you are prepared to put in the hours and do your research, and wait it out for say 5 years, you may do very well out of these times in which we find ourselves.

Got to disagree with you on that one, once you get out of the CBD and the Suk line, you realise just how dire Bkks transport system is. Thankfully things are now improving, but for the time being, check out Ramkhamheang, Sri Nakarin, Ram Intra and Chaeng wattana, built a govt complex in the middle of nowhere, no transport links. As a vehicle owner in Bkk, waste of money is a moot point, its all about convenience, coupled with the couldnt give a eff attitude of some of these taxi drivers, probably the main reason I no longer venture into the Suk ghetto for a night out, couldnt be assed with their pathetic excuses, no meter, too mutt traffic, fon tok, blah blah blah, quoting me 600 baht fares to get home. Biggest bugbear, get rid of those effin lpg tanks in the boot, tourists arriving at the airport, and somchai cannt fit their luggage in coz of his lpg tank, mrs and I with 10 packs of water from Tesco, and his boot is full, lazy twat sits in the front and laffs, wont bother to get off his ass and help, get to the house and he wont raise a finger to help. Its not always about money, its about quality of life.

Up here in the shires we have no such problem, cabbies all drive four tunas and bow and scrape, tip their hats or touch their forelocks and are so eager to please....will there be anything me lud, they ask. You should consider moving rgs.

My wife and I have a working agreement, that isn't even an agreement (it's just how things turned out). Reality is, I'm effing hopeless at saving but earn a good quid. The misses is excellent at saving and earns a modest income. Me and the kid really enjoy our holidays and eating out, and some of the finer things in life. So, what I earn we spend. That covers everything from running 2 cars and 2 houses, and wasting a lot on rock concerts, buying new electric guitars plus lessons, flying lessons, holidays etc etc... I should add that I have a nice retirement superannuation nestegg put away, but that is separate. The misses squirrels her money away, and has almost 6 figures in cold cash parked up. Edit... Dollars, not baht...

His bass guitar teacher is Sam Brewster from The Angels. He seems to be doing ok. Actually there's an Angus Young autographed guitar on eBay I've been thinking about.

AyG what can you play or shouldn't we go there. I'm a master of the pink oboe. I'm also pretty handy with the organ.

And in a flash the original topic was a distant memory, what was it about, astrology or something wasn't it, old MiD would have had kittens by now (which might just improve his disposition).
