I had always believed that using a UK credit card to purchase airline tickets insulated me against loss if the airline failed, not so!
Like many others my BA flight was cancelled so I applied to BA for a refund, when nothing happened I gave the problem to Barclaycard. BC collected various pieces of evidence and took a statement and told me they were on the case, pretty soon a temporary credit appeared on my card. Why temporary I asked, after several weeks? BC replied that there was no guarantee they could recover the funds and that they were dependent on the goodwill of the banks.....excuse me for being skeptical but if there's anyone in this world upon whose good will I wouldn't want to rely it's a bank!!
BC said I should continue to "maintain a dialogue with BA" and attempt to get them to refund my money, with this in mind I wrote to BA Customer Service and demanded the refund. BA wrote back to say that my refund was in a queue and would be dealt with in due course, high volumes, unusual circumstances blah blah. We're now six months on and there's no sign of the refund although the temporary credit is still sat on my credit card statement.
Whether or not I ever see a refund remains to be seen, in the meantime, be aware that using a credit card to insure against this type of loss is not as fool proof as it once seemed.

I got temporary flight credits with Virgin. Looks like we'll be taking a couple of thousand dollars worth of flights for the fun of it between now and next year.

I had flights cancelled by BA in July last year. I logged into the BA Executive Club (I’m only a basic member) and followed the links to raise a complaint about a flight (the same place you record cliams for lost luggage and delayed flights). I said I couldn’t phone the UK from Thailand, didnn’t want a voucher, and that this complaint served as a notice that I wanted a full refund back to my credit card within 14 days. I got a reply within a couple of days saying my compliant had been passed to customer service and a refund would be issued. And amazingly the refund appeared on my credit card within a couple of weeks. I count myself as lucky with this one.

Didn't BA ask the government for bailout in September? Maybe the money came and not all was needed for Alex Cruz's bonus, so you got some of it as well?

Alex got the push, he's history, nasty piece of work that he is. I really shouldn't complain, I got more than my fair share of ID90 "free" tickets from BA via the ex Mrs CM. For my 50th BA took us to Mauritius for a week and then to the Seychelles for week two. Later I scrounged a half dozen round trip LHR/BKK/LHR's, on business of course Then there was the LHR/Barbados route which got abused to the max! That was where I first met Captain Max who had been with BA for over 30 years, his job at the time was London based and involved mentoring 747 pilots who were experiencing technical difficulties in the air. He told some wonderful stories, in particular was one about a pilot who kept wanting to ditch the plane and 350 passengers mid Atlantic, he just hadn't thought he through he said (I'll say). Later, I was always quite nervous when seated next to a pilot because I realized they understood the noises the plane made far better than me so when they jumped it was with reason, consequently I jumped also.

This has nothing to do with CM refusing to appear in a BA safety video, allegedly that is, somehow

Somewhere in this world there's a video of me "pushing" a 747, trying to bump start it and shouting, "pop the clutch".......it's a long story.

That's an easy bet, BA planes either go tech, have to return to the gate or are otherwise delayed, the runner should win every time.
Every time I returned home Id walk in the door of our house and Id ask what's for dinner, Mrs CM would always answer, chicken or fish!

No comment, but rumour has it that while still searching for a moron future husband, the question might be different "Coffee, Tea or Me? is a book of purported memoirs by the fictitious stewardesses Trudy Baker and Rachel Jones, written by the initially uncredited Donald Bain and first published in 1967. The book depicts the anecdotal lives of two lusty young stewardesses, and was originally presented as factual." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee,_Tea_or_Me%3F PS I've got the epub, PM for details

I landed in Delhi 7 times in one day, on the same plane, on the same landing. We screamed our lungs out while the locals kept reading the paper and knitting. They'd obviously seen it all before.
