Don't panic (yet) and always carry a towel. "NASA to participate in tabletop exercise simulating asteroid impact PL's Center for Near Earth Object Studies will lead the hypothetical impact scenario to see how international agencies respond to an actual impact prediction. During the week of April 26, members of NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office (PDCO) will participate in a "tabletop exercise" to simulate an asteroid impact scenario." www.spacedaily.com/reports/NASA_to_participate_in_tabletop_exercise_simulating_asteroid_impact_999.html

Gawd! When I was a student I spent hours simulating asteroid impact on a tabletop game from Atari in a local pub. That was 40 years ago. Has NASA only just caught up?
If NASA is really concerned I can also provide detailed advice on how to deal with Space Invaders.

Better start praying "Lessons learnt from simulated strike In an alternate reality playing out at this year's international Planetary Defense Conference, a fictional asteroid crashes over Europe, 'destroying' a region about 100 km wide near the Czech Republic and German border. The scenario was imagined, but the people who took part are very real, and the lessons learnt will shape our ability to respond to dangerous asteroids for years to come. ... By day three of the conference, the scenario jumps ahead two months to 30 June, less than four months until the imaginary asteroid would strike. At this point, SMPAG concludes that no space missions can be launched in time to deflect or disrupt 2021 PDC from its collision course. ..." www.spacedaily.com/reports/Lessons_learnt_from_simulated_strike_999.html
