Over a double Latte, the Greek mentions “We built the Parthenon 🏛you may recall, along with the Temple of Apollo”. “Aye, and it was the Irish that discovered the Summer and Winter solstices”. “But it was the Greeks who gave birth to mathematics.” “Granted, but it was the Irish ☘ who built the first timepieces.” Knowing that he’s about to deliver the coup de grace, the son of Athens points out with a note finality: “Keep in mind that it was the ancient Greeks who invented the notion of sex as a pleasurable activity!” “Aye! True enough, but it was the Irish who got women involved."

^^^ Funnily enough, I was recently reading an academic paper about male/male sexual activity in ancient Greece (as one does). It was an analysis of such activities depicted on pottery. It would appear that, contrary to popular conception, ancient Greek men did not engage in either oral or anal sex, but rather practiced coitus interfemoris.

Putin visits a fortune teller and asks her what will happen in the near future.
She says; "I see you riding in a limousine through a large crowd, the people are happy, laughing and cheering, jumping for joy, hugging each other and all have big smiles on their faces!"
Putin asks her, "Am I waving at them?"
"No," she says, "your coffin is closed!"

That was actually very good rubes, I was going to say especially for you but I won't. Quiet day at the office.? Since 1-1/2 year people are spread over three or four sites or WFH (aka Work From Home). In that sense it's been quiet for a while already. Just processing mail and found those 'translations' in a mail from an old Ozzie friend. With any respect possibly due, greetings from your beloved Dutch uncle In a formerly Afrikaans speaking country Oom was the term for uncle, probably your lot had something to do with it. In the English language press a public figure "Oom Piet" used to get a lot of bantering comment. I am not suggesting that we adopt the practice here of course.

A chicken farmer went to a local bar, sat next to a woman, and ordered a glass of champagne.
The woman perks up and says, "How about that? I just ordered a glass of champagne, too!"
"What a coincidence," he said, "This is a special day for me, I'm celebrating."
"This is a special day for me, too, and I'm also celebrating!," says the woman.
"What a coincidence," says the man. As they clinked glasses he asked, "What are you celebrating?"
"My husband and I have been trying to have a child, and today my gynaecologist told me I'm pregnant!"
"What a coincidence," says the man. "I'm a chicken farmer. For years all my hens were infertile, but today they're finally laying fertilized eggs."
"That's great!" says the woman, "How did your chickens become fertile?"
"I switched cocks," he replied.
She smiled and said with a wink , "What a coincidence!

That 'Oom Rubl' would come natural in S.A. The meaning of 'Oom Piet' is probably related to English banter towards the Boers. Like CM they aren't really thick, just stubborn.

Maybe he was referring to Chiang Mai Kelly. He'll be referring to the toe of my boot if he keeps it up. Bloody cheese eating European, the reasons for Brexit all came flooding back, like the North Sea over the Zuiderzee on a bad day.
