As reliable as self-driving cars have become this seems reasonable. I like the "The changes will say drivers must be ready to take back control of vehicles when prompted, the government said." Shouldn't be a problem, I mean who could possibly be distracted by the modern day movies "Highway Code: Watching TV in self-driving cars to be allowed People using self-driving cars will be allowed to watch television on built-in screens under proposed updates to the Highway Code. The changes will say drivers must be ready to take back control of vehicles when prompted, the government said. The first use of self-driving technology is likely to be when travelling at slow speeds on motorways, such as in congested traffic. However, using mobile phones while driving will remain illegal." www.bbc.com/news/technology-61155735

I could just imagine pootling along watching the (rather notorious) film "Crash" (1996, directed by David Cronenberg from a novel by J.G. Ballard).
When self-driving cars become universal there'll be no more car crashes, so no more similar films.

My list of books to rwas or re-read only gets longer. "Crash is a 1996 psychological thriller film written, produced and directed by David Cronenberg, based on J. G. Ballard's 1973 novel of the same name. Starring James Spader, Deborah Kara Unger, Elias Koteas, Holly Hunter and Rosanna Arquette, it follows a film producer who becomes involved with a group of symphorophiliacs who are strangely aroused by car crashes." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crash_(1996_film)
