Well, think of all the hassle a Thai hotel owner has to go through to try to satisfy those bloody foreigners. Plus the paperwork, the TM.30 forms, etc., etc.
One may really wonder if it's worth the trouble for the hotel.

Resorting to this sort of measure strikes me as an admission that the country can't derive the extra income it needs from inside the country and must resort to extorting it from visitors. Given that international tourism is/was only 11% of GDP, that means 89% of GDP is not capable of being improved upon.

Quite right, the SJW woke brigade will love it, carbon footprints and all that.
Everyone knows farangs have bigger noses and hoover up the aircon faster than Thais, only right they should pay more, not mentioned farangs have bigger bodies ergo need bigger beds and bedsheets, and towels, pity the poor Burmese lass washing all that lot every day for minimum wage.
Does anyone actually pay for hotels, I thought it all went on company expenses.
