The European Union’s reliance on Russian gas and the risk that Moscow could cut supplies has pushed the bloc to fill storage sites to an 80% target by Oct.1, when the European heating season begins. Progressing to currently 73% average. Some above, some below, solidarity will be tested but no real problems expected. seems E.U. countries are buying fuel where they can. "UK fuel exports to Netherlands up by 67% in June, data shows HMRC figures come as Europe rushes to bank supplies for winter in absence of Russian pipeline Energy exports from the UK to the Netherlands rocketed by 67% in June, official figures reveal, in the latest sign of Europe’s scramble to reduce its dependence on Russian oil and gas. British exports of fossil fuels more than doubled in value in June compared with the same period last year, the latest trading data from HMRC shows. More than £1bn of that went to the Netherlands, home to some of the continent’s biggest gas storage facilities." www.theguardian.com/business/2022/aug/12/uk-fuel-exports-netherlands-hmrc-data-russia

"UK fuel exports to Netherlands up by 67% in June Why on earth is the UK exporting fuel at all when the government is planning power cuts for business and homes because of a shortage of fuel? It'll be like going back to the 70s.

"UK fuel exports to Netherlands up by 67% in June Why on earth is the UK exporting fuel at all when the government is planning power cuts for business and homes because of a shortage of fuel? It'll be like going back to the 70s. The article suggest the UK is importing from the USA and exporting to the continent. I guess some companies are making a profit as well as the government by taxing things. The import/export will be contractual regulated and would be difficult to cancel without profound repercussions. Of course the UK government can slowly do its own import assuming the USA still has capacity left, there's transport vehicles available and there's a budget.
