For any of us, that is assuming you qualify as worthy of the honour. "Thailand unveils new Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa, allowing selected non-Thais to stay in Thailand for up to 10 years Thailand officially unveiled a new visa program called “Long-Term Resident (LTR)” on 1 September 2022, with a range of tax and non-tax benefits to persuade new foreign residents, technologies, and talents to stay or work in Thailand longer, contributing to domestic spending and investment while supporting economic growth. The LTR visa is offered to four categories of foreigners: - Wealthy global citizens: high economic status individuals holding at lease USD 1 million in assets and investment in Thailand; - Wealthy pensioners: retirees aged 50 years and older who have an annual pension or stable income; - Work-from-Thailand professionals: remote workers working for well-established companies overseas; - Highly skilled professionals: professionals or experts in targeted industries working for business entities, higher education institutes, research centers, or specialized training institutes in Thailand or for Thai government agencies. ... ..." I am aged 50 years and older and have an annual pension, but I suspect I am not what they are looking for.

- Wealthy pensioners: retirees aged 50 years and older who have an annual pension or stable income; Huh? Special treatment for people who own horses?

Follow up "Wealthy Americans, Chinese top list of new Thai visa applicants While not exactly the rush it was hoping for, Thailand is seeing applications trickle in for its new visa programme targeted at rich foreigners with officials viewing it as a sign of more to come. Around 400 people have sought the visa within the first 12 days of it being rolled out, with pensioners making up 40% of the applications, Narit Therdsteerasukdi, deputy secretary-general of the Board of Investment, said in an interview in Bangkok." I am aged 50 years and older and have an annual pension, but I suspect I am not what they are looking for. On FB just now I saw a post from a visa center with "Do you qualify? Check now. Two minute test" and somewhere to click on. I had a quick look at their FB page. Found a.o. a reply they gave some guy. "The other option is to prove 1M USD of assets, and buy a 500k USD condo, or look into the Thai Elite Visa as it requires less investment. We also hope the reduce the remote work requirements as it does leave a lot of be desired." I'm afraid I'll stick to simple non-B for now and later non-O

I'm afraid I'll stick to simple non-B for now and later non-O No need to change your visa type. You simply state "Retirement" (and meet the requirements) when you next need to extend. I entered on a non-B and have never replaced it, even though the basis for extension has changed from "working" to "investment" to "retirement".

My work permit just got extended for another two years and by that time rules and conditions may have changed (again).
