I have rarely been more impressed by the wonderful religion of Islam than when I read this news piece:

It's truly fantastic that the men force the women of the village to stay, despite dire flooding, desperate food shortages and disease, lest they accidentally meet a man who isn't a member of their family and so dishonour their relatives.

Quite right too, a woman's place is in the home, almost Victorian values.

^^^ Pretty sure that even in the Victorian era if a house were flooding, there were no food, and disease were rampant a woman would be allowed to leave the home - provided, of course, that she were wearing enough corsets and petticoats to protect her modesty.

Our forefathers did us a grave injustice. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile, such leniency back in the day is why we we're where we are today. First they want the vote, next they want to become Prime Minister, for goodness sake, what's next, total equality? It's shameful.
