"No son"

Plain proof that your knowledge of the event left you completely in the dark...

I looked at some headings and only saw the usual like 'cojoined twins', 'boeing jet loses parts', 'Donny Trump sues'. Yeah that's what happens when they have a solar eclipse. People start growing extra heads and planes fall from the sky. I never knew that oldie, no wonder they're worried.

Why is the shadow so small? Because someone felt pity for all those fools down there. This was actually a serious question. If the moon is several thousand miles wide, and the sun is 7 light minutes away and 4 times the distance from Earth to the moon; shouldn't the shadow be several thousand miles wide? I could probably work it out for myself but I'm too lazy. I'll give Pythagoras a ring.

Or the Earth really is flat, and you lot are going to boil for eternity in your pit of iniquity surrounded by naked women and loud music.

Shadow 10km. I'm missing something. It's not 4 times the distance from the Earth to the Moon, The diameter of the sun is 4 times the distance from Earth to moon? What's that make it, a million k's?

In non-flat-Earth space the Moon is on average 384.400 km away. The Sun about 150.000.000 km.

I think this has something to do with Australian kms vs Western kms and the way in which Australians count. The first part is the same, 1,2,3,4 etc but when you get to 1,536,000 the Ozzies then jump to 150,000,000. It saves a lot of time I must confess but I doubt it will catch on in the Northern Hemisphere.
