Some months ago the good lady Sheryl recommended me to a throat doctor in St Louis. He quickly identified "something that shouldn't be there" and passed me up the chain. I was told it was a mass in the pharynx, which was not what I wanted to hear, and told a Scan and a biopsy were the next steps. Duly done and the original diagnosis confirmed. This doc/consultant asked if I had insurance, negative, he said that he also was at Chula and that would be cheaper. To cut a long story short I was put on 33 sessions of radiotherapy and 6 or7 chemotherapy at Chula. I knocked the chemo off after 4. That all finished 4 weeks ago, saw the original doc yesterday. He sat me next to a screen and put a scope down my throat. Various snotty.looking body bits on the screen. He said that one there is from the first time I saw you, this here is what I'm looking at now and the mass is gone. Needs a scan to confirm, but I'd say it's hopeful.
Im also down for a blood transfusion as I seem to now have anaemia. They assured me they will have A neg in stock but I got the impression they had not heard of it before.
Hope that wasn't too boring.

Bloody heck rott, why didn't you say something earlier!
I'm truly sorry you had to go through all of that but am pleased as anyone can be that the outcome is positive, not a pleasant journey I imagine.
Well done.
Now, about the, "I got better so come join me to celebrate" invitation that you're about to send out, can you make it a Friday or Saturday night please? Thanks.

O neg people can only receive O neg Added a chart of blood compatibility

Took me a bit to tell anyone, but I didn't want to talk about it. At least in Thailand they get onto it sharpish, I was initially diagnosed in April or May and the treatment finished 11th July. Won't be celebrating for a while. I'm still being fed through a tube in my nose, good job the misses was/is still speaking to me I'd have been well firked without her.

I've seen appeals for both Aneg and Oneg on AN, neg blood groups were unheard of in Thailand before farang arrived. I responded to a couple of appeals but too old now. To be technical the scope went down my nose and into my throat.

The NHS transfusion service came to my place of work twice a year. Plenty of potential donors there with about 4000 workers on site.

Well the good news is that rott will be able to bother us for a few more years to come. Some here will need that.

If you ever find yourself in a similar situation again in the future and you don't want to share with everyone, at least PM me. For goodness sake, I could have set up the GoFund me page by now plus I could have liaised with all your lady friends to make sure they were kept up to date and weren't worrying unnecessarily.

Exactly. That's what friends are for. I've got a few cans of spaghetti we can feed through your nose tube.

There's a slightly amusing tale about a certain private hospital near Ekamai and the nose tube. But I'll save that for when we're enjoying the mulled wine and chestnuts at Christmas.
