So a suspicious package resembling a bomb was found today. What's wrong with this pic? .

Yup - lets all gather round and look at the potential pipe bomb that will wipe everything out in XYZ radius.

I'm sure the police usually clear an area greater than 2 metres right?

I was listening to a guy on the news this morning who was 50 metres away from the erawan bomb. He said it took 30 minutes for emergency services to get there.
Isn't there a hospital across the road? Military hospital or something like that.

Remember though the Thai's have had no experience of terrorist attacks unlike the UK. and a large number of other countries, that list is indeed a large one.
Easy to criticise when those who are in the image are indeed totally unaware of the risks they are taking.

No I am not the incidence of terrorist attacks here is minuscule both in size, fatalities, personal injuries and property damage.
Sadly the Thais are like children there is going to be an almighty tragedy before anyone sits up and takes notice of events.

They've been dealing with terrorism for years down south - including explosives. You wouldn't imagine it was beyond anyone's wit to clear the area.

Ridiculous to say it's because they haven't had as many bombs as the UK. And then to say they've had no experience with terrorism, mate I just don't get at all. I suppose it's about trying to make sense of the situation in the pic. Seems like commonsense to clear the area, including the police car.

What irritates me - and I'm sure that Siampolee would agree with this is:
There's Westerners such as Siampolee in country along with thousands of other highly trained professionals in all types of fields including firefighters, doctors, specialist skilled police etc that would be delighted to help out with advice and training - and all that human resource is binned by short-sighted Thai government work permit policies.

Yup - lets all gather round and look at the potential pipe bomb that will wipe everything out in XYZ radius. Well - it's a social thing with Thais.
You know how that is.

They couldn't believe their luck hiring someone as qualified as he ( he'd been working on some weird Japanese in Scotland before he went to Thailand ). He was given a genuine work permit as his area of expertise wasn't on the restricted occupation list. Anyway, he got fed up with it and went to work for a private school somewhere around CM. He seems to be doing well there.

One doesn't even have to explore contemporary Thai history to know of the history of "terrorist" acts that have been ongoing for decades.
I'm perplexed with folks that speak of things they know nothing of, less using comparatives that have nothing whatsoever to do with Thai events.
