I was listening to a guy on the news this morning who was 50 metres away from the erawan bomb. He said it took 30 minutes for emergency services to get there. Isn't there a hospital across the road? Military hospital or something like that. The Police hospital is right on the corner. Knowing how horrendous the traffic is in that part of town, 30 minutes wouldnt surprise me in the least.

What's wrong with the pic?
Firstly...it's underexposed. Secondly...One cannot really see the suspicious package due to the above. Thirdly...move along...nothing to see.

Remember though the Thai's have had no experience of terrorist attacks unlike the UK. and a large number of other countries, that list is indeed a large one. Easy to criticise when those who are in the image are indeed totally unaware of the risks they are taking. How many thousand have been killed in the Southern provinces? Or is that the sultanates, the Occupied Territories, not Thailand?

Indeed an interesting question.
We could rightfully in many ways I think compare that Southern Thailand situation with the Northern Ireland situation which for many years was and still is to a lesser degree been a problem for the U.K.
Certainly that scenario occupied some of my time and a lot of my fellow officers time in S.B.
When comparing the fatality rates here to N.I. and the collateral damage suffered, Thailand has and is in my opinion a lot safer than N.I ever was in its more active days.
Probably more chance of coming to an untimely and sticky end here due to traffic accidents or being caught up in a domestic or business dispute. .
