If I had to put money on it in South East Asia I'd have rated Thailand no.3 also. Quite a way behind Singapore and also beyond Malaysia.
Catching up to Thailand in many ways - not just banking are Indonesia, Phillipines and Vietnam.

Yet, I know many Thais that prefer to have as little association with a banking system as possible.
Old school. Keep cash hidden.
