Absolutely it would. I'm certain a tuk tuk has zero emissions control on their muffler or exhaust for starters.

For all the police checks they love doing - they're missing a chance to earn serious money with this one. Can you imagine the amount of tea money they would earn by starting emissions tests?

Bloody things should be banned, a PITA and their prices are a total rip off. Agreed on the overpricing, I haven’t taken a Tuk-Tuk for about 15 years now. When I last tried the quotes that I got were twice as expensive as a Taxi. However, I really don’t think that they should be banned. At least with Tuk-Tuks on the road it makes it easier to spot (and avoid/laugh at) budget tourists and Khao San Jockeys.
