Just done a Thai passport application for our eldest at Chaeng Wattana government office. Arrived around 9.15 am - opens at 8am I think. In and out in half an hour or so, pleasant and friendly place with no queues. Cost 1,000 baht + 60 baht if you want it sending to you by EMS, so you don't have to bother going and picking it up.Passport will be ready on 29 Sep. That's only 5 days including today or 3 working days. Very efficient. Think the British could learn a lot from this Most difficult part was finding a parking space! For anyone else doing one. Need: - Kids Thai ID card if they have (if over 7 they should have) - Original Thai birth certificate - Mum's Thai ID card - Dad's passport - Both parents are expected to attend. If one can't for some reason then I believe you need a letter from the embassy etc - We took the old passport but I don't think they looked at it - Fill in all the forms there and then They didn't bother with the photocopies of these documents we took. Just the originals

The thai pp office based on Mrs S' experiences have always been good, she had to get a new PP during the floods and even with all that going on, she got a pp quicker than i get my one for Blighty, seem to be a public service they have got right
Unlike Uncle Souties last PP, where HM goverment didnt inform their subjects properly that one had to send the renewals to Liverpool rather than HK and Uncle Soutie sent all his crap to HK but kudos to the PP officer in HK who told me dont do anything unless she tells me to...and a few weeks later new pp delivered to Thailand, HK had sorted everything out via Liverpool so credit where credit is due

Every time we do a UK passport it seems to change where we send it to.
Is it UK/Liverpool now?
She also needs a UK passport in the next couple of months. It has 10 or so months left, but you need to have at least 6 months to go to most places. We got the Thai one done to go to Singapore as it would be only 5 months 28 days left on date of return and the airline online booking system wouldn't let us use the details for the Thai one because of that. So used her UK one. Once the trip is over will get a UK one.

Trendy Towers in BKK, its an agency who does it these days not the BE after the intial chaos of another change they seem to have got their shit together and by all accounts its a 2 week turnaround, drop your paperwork with Trendy and they will call you when the new pp is with them Be careful with the 6 month validity thing as regards Singapore, my Mrs went with me one time and had 7 months left on her PP and the nice lady at the check in was not going to let her on flight cos she didnt have 6 months left, till i pointed out said lady at the check in couldnt count and had to show her on a calander that the expiry day was 7 months away....and the silly little grins...and solly solly

Sounds easy enough.
How about passport pics Fletch?
How many do we need to take along and where do we get those from nearby?
I'll be going to get daughters sorted in November.

Yes easy Hippity. For Thai passports you don't need to take any photos. They use a digital camera on their desks and take a photo there and then. Cheers Fletch
