Follow up to the previous thread.
I guess most here have taken them. Cramming and fingers crossed for a question that you could answer comfortably.
My memory drifted back to my finals; I attended UEA which had continuous assessment as a component of the final degree.
Taking a joint (no not one of those) degree in Literature and History and going into finals on top marks on continuous assessment; no plagiarism allowed, you could not fool those profs and lecturers as all assignments were followed by a tutorial to grill you on, I was pretty confident. The literature paper a dream, Blake, Wordsworth and the Romantics and The Gothic novel. The history paper should have been easier for me, but alas of the choices in front of me, two to be answered , one was fine , but then I had no choice but to flannel, there was no option as I had not researched the other options in depth.
The first was , if I remember rightly, on the effects of European revolutions and British political development.
The other options I cannot remember, but I was stuck as the only question I could with any confidence answer was deliberately placed there as a very similar question, Methodism and how it prevented a socialist uprising in Britain, or words to that effect.
I had already used up all the arguments in the first answer. I was F...ed!
Oh well, waffle, waffle and waffle some more.
I was called up for an oral exam and no questions asked about my other answers, but all on the waffle.
I confessed, as the interrogators knew I would, fair enough, no first for me!

I missed almost two semesters after a horrific motorcycle crash (still suffering arthritis). The university were willing to give me a repeat year, but I refused and thanked them. Those two missing semesters were on American History and though I read and kept up to date on my (death) bed, I missed out on the discussions, interactions.
The other questions on the final paper were on American history. I could not pretend to answer them, I was already established as a lover of nineteenth century literature , English and American, but much safer on my home turf of English history.

Get harder as you get older too... ... unfortunately other things don't ... unfortunately other things don'tTo be honest Fletch, that's a god-send. When you get as decrepit as me, that kind of malarky interferes with your drinking. Whole nights out are ruined by men spending their time chasing tail while the bar is still pouring drinks. Can't wait till my appendage drops off altogether.

My gf sat an exam today with only three questions....that's got to be ridiculous right?
My exams all have at least 200 and negative marking too just to <duck> with your mind while you listen to the clock tick.
Doom...doom....
