I'm in Edinburgh, and was out for dinner with my lady the other night. Dusit Thai restaurant was the chosen spot - which is unusual for me as I don't normally go to Thai places in the UK - once you've eaten in Thailand, UK places are second-class ( as a rule of thumb ).
On the way home the taxi driver commented that there's now a large Thai community in Edinburgh, with an explosion in the amount of restaurants and spas. I've noticed the explosion in restaurants in Glasgow, ( even though I don't use them ) and was surprised to hear that there were a couple of spas open too. ThaiguyinGlasgow says that there are loads of Thais at Strathclyde Uni - including a lecturer who has now relocated to Newcastle.
It would only be a guess, but I would say that the Thai community in both cities must be in the high hundreds/low thousands. Still, a fair chunk of people - and it seems that many are relocating from England. I hear there's less racism around these parts -
