Yes unusual as you say. Spot on though in their attitude to help force change and clean things up.
Normally companies just cut the sponsorship and distance themselves.

One is led to wonder why and how Blatter managed to operate as he had and did over the span his tenure as the head of FIFA over the years? He was suspected of dubious self serving practices over the years yet nothing was seen to be done about his activities. I am tempted to ask, '' just how many people were on the take?'' Financial incentives and no doubt the threat of the exposure of people's sexual proclivities etc linked to financial blackmail forestalled any actions. Methinks there are a lot more rotten apples still to be removed from the FIFA pork barrel.

Dont forget the UEFA barrel and the Clown Prince in waiting, he doesnt exactly come out of it smelling of roses. Yup - that $1.3 million payment he took before withdrawing looks seriously whiffy - www.theguardian.com/football/2015/oct/01/michel-platini-fifa-uefa-explaining-german-footballMichel Platini’s attempts to explain his £1.35m payment from Fifa are “just not enough”, according to the head of the German Football League. The DFL president, Reinhard Rauball, said the Uefa president has yet to present a “credible explanation” of the reasons behind a nine-year delay in the payment, which was made in 2011.

I think you'll find they both slithered out from the under the stone and its primeval sludge at the same time. They are also both adept at being able to walk under snakes without touching the snakes belly too !!
