He was cremated about an hour ago.
I was not there, my son and wife were.
I wish him well in his after life; well that's what they are doing.
We fell out years ago.
He was born a bastard child of a black American, fighting in Vietnam.
Raised as a brother with my wife.
No Thai identity, a no being.
Worked in Patpong as a pimp and anything else.
Could muster some English, but my Thai was developing.
I should not write this of the dead.
One fateful night, I had a quite common row with my wife.
I went to Patpong and my wife's adopted brother, tried to pimp me for a lady, " like my wife"! What a brother!.
My wife does not know this, hence I write here.
I am banished from the "family" for refusing to mourn him.

You are mourning him in your own way, just because someone doesn't go into paroxysms of grief at the death of someone, family or not does not mean you do not grieve. Your feelings regarding the deceased are true feelings as opposed to staged grief the beating of the chest and the gnashing of death and the plaintive wails of sorrow and crocodile tears all often done for the effect as opposed to being a genuine feeling.. Let the family be, they will have their image of a ''saint'' you have an image that was and is a harsh reality of the real person that your wife's brother was.  ![]() |
