Since yesterday evening I've been having problems with a lot of overseas sites. DNS lookup works, and some sort of connection will be made, but pages never complete loading. Doesn't affect every site, though working sites are slow to load. (Thailand-based sites seem OK.) Not been able to see "the other webboard" since late yesterday. (Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.) This site appears pretty much unaffected.
Is affecting everyone? I'm on TOT broadband in Bangkok.
Is it a result of hacktivism against the proposed single spy point gateway proposed by the military junta?
Has another international cable been cut by an overenthusiastic trawler?
Has TOT screwed up its Internet configuration yet again?
Any thoughts? Comments?

The Great Firewall of Thailand. Maybe because it's the weekend many people online. Reset your WiFi, clear you cookies, restart or get a good VPN.

I also am on TOT broadband and have the same problems, have had them for at least a week, problems with opening the BBC sports pages are a prime example.
Forget trying to use a VPN, its even worse.
Dont think its anything to do with hacktivism.
This morning the guy from 3BB came to the house and took the details, 3B will be installed on Mon or Tues, after which I will head to the TOT office in Bang Kapi and cancel.
Reason for choosing 3BB, have been to the houses of some locals who are using it, and managed to open sites I couldnt with TOT, this being Thailand its probably pure coincidence, and this time next week I will be pulling my hair out yet again.
Personally I agree with your last question, yes screwed up yet again.
Dont think we can blame illegal Burmese fishermen this time

I'm an expert at getting past The Great Bloody FireWall of China ha. HK will slow things down no matter what company you are with. The Single Gateway, carry on, in Mandarin that roughly translates that a girl won't take it up the blurter or er anywhere else, ok sorry I'll go away now from this informative thread. |

Yesterday I had no real problem with the_other_site and I'm using an Aerostick with TrueMove SIM. What is slow though is the BM site, sg.yahoo.com. Quick gmail, wiki.
I wonder if some of the 'newer' cloud based API's cause a bit more traffic than non-first-world connection can handle.

With respect to TOT at least. my understanding from my Mrs is that TOT is snowed under with requests for the fibre optic connections,putting big demand/loading on their system
Had a FO connection put in the house some time back and it took them over 2 weeks to get round to us to run the cable and connect, but haven't seen any speed/connection issues as such on the TOT FO.
