Singapore ranks top in Asia, 17th globally in prosperity survey
Attachment DeletedSingapore ranked 17th - and top among Asian countries - in the latest prosperity survey of 142 countries, rising by one place from last year, according to TODAY online. Singapore got 1st place in the economy sub-index, up from second last year, beating Switzerland, while it showed the lowest performance in the personal freedom sub-index. The 2015 Prosperity Index by London-based international think tank Legatum Institute released on Monday showed that Singapore had the second highest capital per worker in the world: US$240,750 per worker. Forty-seven per cent of the country’s manufactured exports were classified as ‘high-tech’, the third highest in the world, according to Legatum. In the personal freedom sub-index, Singapore ranked 38th, trailing behind Slovenia (25th) and Botswana (36th). By sub-indices, Singapore ranked the world’s 12th in entrepreneurship and opportunity; 13th in governance; 15th in education; 14th in health; 12th in security and safety; and 25th in social capital. Indonesia has climbed 21 places up the Prosperity Index in the last seven years, the most in the world, to 69th. The United States has become an increasingly dangerous nation, ranking 33rd on the safety and security sub-index, down from 31st last year. englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/singapore-ranks-top-in-asia-17th-globally-in-prosperity-survey

That's spot on. Singapore is a 'fine city' there are fines for sitting on steps, spitting, smoking, etc. etc. I have the T-shirt. In Basel nobody would blink if you lit up in a hash bar and started puffing away.
