Yeah, I know, it sounds bizarre.
Toast the bread, slather w/ peanut butter & put some dill pickle slices on it.
It is actually GOOD! I would have never believed it but a childhood friend talked me into it years ago.

You mean gherkins? Russian style ones I like with salami, blue cheese on rye. Peanut butter marries well with grated carrot.

Many a year back my beloved wife who was a bit green as to the eating habits of we farangs and as a result constructed a sandwich for me which was on a plate on the table awaiting me nicely presented with a chilled glass of orange juice.
I took a bite, indeed a novelty, taste fusion food before its time.
Sliced tomato, pilchards, strawberry jam and ketchup!!
Bless her.
She worked on the assumption as all contents were red the filling would be, or was going to be fine.
Wasn't too bad, I ate it, but later told her the idea was great but the filling needed a bit more fine tuning. We still laugh about it some 21 years later.
Her now sandwich offerings are greatly improved and she searches magazines and the net for more tasteful ideas.

Black gold is nice on buttered toast with finely sliced Lebanese cucumbers.
