A California man is far from the first to cause hurt and pain to a server by using a restaurant check to unleash his prejudice and bigotry, but his "tip" certainly has caused hurt, pain, and now outrage. A Redondo Beach server at the Bamboo Thai Bistro received no tip, and the words, "tip for U.S. citizens only" from a patron on his check. The server, a mother supporting two children, here from Thailand and in the United States legally working to obtain her green card, told her coworkers when she saw the check, fearing she had done something wrong. Maybe if these places paid their staff a decent wage there would be no need for a tipping culture.
Thais taking advantage of others Thais, wow theres a first, have heard the same from America, to the UK to Australia.

Cocktail waitress makes 400% more than a cook and a caddy makes 3 or 4 times as much as the guy who cuts the grass. I started working at 14 years old as a caddy and made enough to buy a Jag XK 140 when I turned 16 and worked my way through college as a bartender makeing $100 bucks a day in the 60's. The poor kids went to FT Lauderdale for spring break myself and my two tipped employee roommates would fly to Nassau (still British then).

Maybe it was someone who'd just been on holiday to Thailand and been on the receiving end of dual pricing getting his own back - that'll show 'em

Maybe he wanted his money to go to Americans rather than illegals.
