My posts disappeared and I got warned and banned - for asking questions. Here's the drill. 4 or more posters with one or only a few topics - 1000 or more posts are trying to push rules. 1. Home visits for retirement visas. 2. TM 30 form (necessary for farang to fill out it is only for Thais hotel owners and rarely then). 3. Address checks for 90 day reports (not necessary by mail or on line or in most immigration offices). A few posters (not mods by name) are answering thousands of questions. They never say where they live or if they are involved in agencies. Some are from OZ but pretend to be Americans. They start rumors about new requirements and post quotes from non government sites and saying are quoting official information. Appears they function with the permission of the three mods who take care of the visa forum.
What is the scam? They are trying to start fictitious requirements and mostly try to scare the old guys asking questions. They rarely post in other forums only the visa one and never ask questions only give information with an authoritative style. When one is questioned the other 4 jump to his rescue (I assume it is really only one person).

I know of whom you talk - it would be a relatively easy way to have people throw their hands in the air and just turn to visa agents.
On a side note I was talking to the lady that runs the Glasgow consulate yesterday about my visa - I'll only need a single entry as I'm only in Thailand 60 days. She says the METV has caught many people out - especially the £5,000 in the bank for six months prior requirement.
The problem for many is that they booked their snowbird flights as usual, and hoped to get a double or triple entry, again as usual. Now they are showing up to get their visas and the double/triple entry visa option has been deleted.
I feel that the METV is a good visa option but they should have given more notice to people.

We all know that the mods in the other place are encouraged and expected to troll under different names and of course are protected as they act. Those troll mods also have their own agenda too and woe betide you if you dare dispute their comments and highlight their bias too
Roland Rat is a notorious troll known to all as. Well you know who don't you!!!!
Some of the more zealous posters post under multiple names as yet again we all know.
Its all click bait, if you take the time to actually search the membership names some 75% of the registered members have never made a post.
Sponsors (some of whom could be considered questionable regarding education, financial advice and visa services etc) are duped into thinking there is a gold mine of clients there alas, 'tis nothing but ''fools gold.''
Honesty is not the name of the game and hopefully the new owners once they have seen the books properly and the income over a period of time will realise that a good clean up all round would be in their and their sponsors best interests.
Certainly in the early years the forum was good, even then though, the mods standards and stances were questionable as time proved with the antics of some ex mods.

TM 30. The guy who thinks he is a mod writes, "You don't need to do anything. It's up to the owner of the house. You've nothing to do or worry about."
The mod who knows what he is talking about writes, "The apartment owner or manager is responsible for doing the report. Unless you have to go for an extension of your entry you really don't need to worry about the report being done. But if only a exempt or tourist visa entry extension Bangkok normally does not ask for the TM30."
The mod who is trying to stir up shi# writes, "It is not true that only the owner of of the apartment can submit the form TM.30. The law considers you to be the 'house master" because you are the "chief possessor" of the dwelling "in the capacity of tenant". If you chose to submit the TM.30 in your own name I suggest that below your signature you encircle the text "POSSESSOR OR RESIDENCE", which, allowing for the obvious typing error, means possessor of residence, ie you, the tenant"
Then there is a lady now involved with the CM expats club who trolls, "Chiang Mai Immigration is now saying that every time you leave the country and re-enter, there should be a new TM 30 filed. No need if you travel around the country and return home, even if you stay in a hotel that presumably filed a TM 30 for you."
And another expat who has had many questionable posts writes, "My wife filed a TM30 for me today at rhe old Immigration department in CM,no fine but a stern warning that if I leave LOS and return she has to file another one within 24 hours, which is a bit of a bummer as I always go stay with my son and grandson on the way back from the UK twice a year, guess I won't be able to do that in future.
All these new hoops....what a pain in the but" and, "I'm really confused about all of this?"
Back to the Sh## stirring mod who says, "Immigration's data base would show them if you stayed in hotels, ie if hotels have notified immigration of your arrival."
So these folks are trying to start a new procedure and a new form for expats, TM 30 and convince us that somehow there is a database that tracks expat movements in Thailand.

'Tis noticeable that there seems to be a community of somewhat warped minded expats in C.M. most who if you search their F.B. page come across as frustrated self opininated poverty stricken colonial types. Born again whingers who seem to think their opinion matters and that they in their eyes and minds seem to think they can and will shape the future of expats Thailand. www.facebook.com/Chiang-Mai-Expats-Club-286223608211692/

I heard that Nancy hires babies for PR shoots and gives food to the expat homeless (only to retrieve the food before they can ingest it)

She has hatched a plan to win the POTY on here. She has all the media giants in her pocket and expect some PM's offering large financial packages to give your vote!

I heard that Nancy hires babies for PR shoots and gives food to the expat homeless (only to retrieve the food before they can ingest it) In fairness I think Nancy does do a lot of good and does fulfill a need. She however always reminds me of the traditional Colonels wife...head of the ladies on base womens commitee etc.....always claiming credit for everything and drawing attention to her status at every chance. I do feel sorry for her husband who does not seem to be able to get a word in. At least with all her activities he does get some respite.

You succinctly describe Nancy in your post.
I always imagine her as the W.I. chairwoman and the chairwoman of the Mothers Union in the U.K .Agreed the colonels lady, a wonderful breed but they can and do become irritating at times.
Dear old hubby suffers in silence as he is displayed and taken along for the ride !!.
