Hong Kong people’s affinity towards their own people has dropped to a record low, the University of Hong Kong Public Opinion Programme (HKUPOP) found. Around 1,000 Hongkongers were interviewed via phone in each half of the two-part survey conducted in November. In the first stage, respondents were asked to name up to ten regions or countries that they know best outside of the four cross-strait regions of Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan and Macau. The most frequently mentioned places were found to be the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France and Singapore. The second stage of the survey involved respondents rating the governments and peoples in the cross-strait regions as well as the other 12 most mentioned countries and regions...... I hang up same as I do for crank advertising calls. That Occupy Central or Umbrella Movement as it became known was something else, locked down my workplace building as it was considered a security risk when all the kerfuffle started. Streets blocked, schools closed, services halted etc etc if any of you read about it. ...but onionluke, if this was in the mainland it would have been another Tiananmen Square with the gov sending in tanks and shooting people. Considering HK still answers to motherland China it was handled well, I expected the PRC to step in and quash it, got international coverage but that's about it. The puppets are still in power and this isn't a democracy. www.theguardian.com/world/2015/sep/28/hong-kong-umbrella-movement-first-anniversary-democracy
