Having some pretty decent culinary skills in cooking various asian cuisine, I decided to make my own sen yai, so I could whip up a pad si ew...Simple enough I thought.
Now theres not many recipes out there for sen yai so I watched 3 different recipes by female Thais.
Mixed the stuff, oiled the tray steamed it, one side had the right consistency the topside seemed a bit dry and crisp like.
Never mind, oiled them up and launched them in an oiled pan, to test.
I think I've invented some new kind of rice crisps, they don't taste too good though.
I looked at a packet of dried sen lek in the cupboard and there is no mention of tapioca starch on there.
The recipes said 2 parts rice flour and 1 part tapioca so I followed that.
I am guessing tapioca is not involved and thats what made them crispy, I normally use it for deep fried crispy stuff.
Someone once told me Thai girls can tell lies, why lie about a recipe though.
Anyone made these before, is it worth p**sing about?

I've also been told that the cost/reward effort ain't worth it - a Thai cook I know says that you'd be better served learning another dish.
Even she struggles to get it right.

I'll stick to the dried dehydrated stuff I think.
She made it look easy, maybe hers turn the same when they are in the pan.
