Thought I'd start a thread on the house we have been building in a village not far from Si Chompu.
I could give individual prices for each stage, and I will give some prices that I remember, but we have a list of every single satang spent including things as menial as ice for workers, and any lunches we've supplied...yes I've heard why get them food, the Thais don't, so why should we?
My answer is workers usually give a better service when the person paying them cares enough to feed them. I've been a tradesman for a few years and trust me, its true.
So anyway, back to the house. I will be updating this thread as necessary, including lots of stage by stage pic's. Unfortunately right now I don't have an SD card in this Thai phone so once I get back home I'll upload some.

So the house is 20 metres by 12 metres. Verandah is another 2 metre by 12 metres. Its just one big rectangle, inside is 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and a big lounge room. Simple design, we drew the plan on paper, no architect costs.
I upgraded the concrete posts which stand 4metres high, nice and chunky, and the slab is poured 100mm. I'm not to fond of the standard 70mm the Thais use.
The highest point on the roof is 3 metres above the 4 metre collumn s.
To be continued.....
