In the twenty years I have lived in this area, virtually all wasteland, natural land, has been built on.
When I was a child of five, my family moved to a new house ,built on what was once a forest.
Last night I had a dream. No not that one.
I dreamt I was in a London street, a fog and nothing natural or green.
I do not believe in the supernatural.
It was not a nightmare, a young child's memory.
Woke to the sounds of birds singing and builders banging.
Cigarette on the balcony, a monitor lizard dashed away into the undergrowth.
Went for lunch as usual at Oi's little place.
I liked to sit there and just watch the birds, the rushes moving in the breeze, her picking herbs from the plot. Others harvesting banana leaves for making the rice coconut sweet.
It was gone, the wasteland bulldozed in a morning.
My wasteland will be next.
Non permanence.

I was back in the town I grew up in last month....and the opposite has occurred.
The rancid flats opposite our house have been bulldozed......and now from the window I gazed out from for years I imagine you can see the cliffs and sea in the distance instead of a bunch of council blocks.
Some change is good....not much these days I grant you!

Change is good - way too many people spend way too much time campaigning to keep buildings.
I live in a listed building and while it's nice I don't believe it should be listed.
Keep the top buildings -
Bulldoze the rest.
This planet is for the living.
It's not a museum.
