what about being compared to E.T. ? I don't think you could get a ring on his finger.

On a somewhat philosophical note "Sam believes Gollum shouldn’t be trusted. “There’s naught left in him but lies and deceit.” “I want to help him Sam,” says Frodo, “because I have to believe he could come back.” – The Two Towers 1:28" "You shall love your neighbor as yourself. – Leviticus 19:18" So I guess the description of 'goolum' would be "one who has trodden from the right path but for whom there is still hope". Now surely that means being called "Gollum" can't be an insult www.christopherfenoglio.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Gollum.jpg"“What are we holding on to, Sam?” said Frodo, “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo,” said Sam, “and it’s worth fighting for.”" www.christopherfenoglio.com/gollum-smeagol-the-struggle-is-in-each-of-us/

I wonder qhat our qizard thinks about this ... rgs already pretty much summed up my first reaction I believe he was speaking metaphorically. But given we're talking history, I think it's important to clarify that Gollum is actually dead. He would be spinning in his grave - if he had one - at comparison to such a person. Metaphorically speaking again of course, given that he fill into the fires of Mount Doom. Possible that he was re-incarnated in the body of the Turkish PM though. One never knows... As a friend of mine once said “Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.”
Of course there are always exceptions... so feel free to judge this guy
