This thread is for commenting on those little things in life which gave you a smile....so you can share the grins around with your fellow Mangoes.
I was at the airport this morning checking in and just as I joined the line the old gentleman in front of me waiting with his wife stepped forward to help a frail looking even older lady lift her bag on to the belt.
He grabbed it and heaved it up there and the desk agent exclaimed 38 kilos!
Poor old guy was panting as he walked back to me and returned my wide grin as I considered this old lady's twin sister safely esconsed in the luggage enjoying her free trip to Tenerife hehe...

When an old man insists to let me out of a lift first, or open the door for me-I always politely refuse-I respect my elders. Having said that, some of them are insistent, so I smile, thank them and be on my way. The other thing is to hear a kid bouncing a ball-whether it be a basketball or football. These days, most kids spend far too much time on the internet, and not playing outside.

Yes I was in Shetland in winter a few years ago and a couple of kids used me as snowball target practice then ran off laughing.
I just threw a few back and joined in.

The old lady who runs a corner shop in my village, if I buy something for 98 baht and I give her 100, I tell her its two baht change, she just smirks and goes to her trustee calculator!

The occasional child in a hospital waiting room makes me smile after being sat there for up to 9 hours.
There are some noisy and unruly ones though I would like to kick, and also kick the parent/s, mainly middle eastern kids (but not limited to) who don't give a damn about others and let them run about and scream and shout, it seems acceptable if your wearing a black bed sheet as clothing.
Then you get the Chinese kids who are disciplined by parents as if they were training for the SAS. To a western mind it may seem crude, but people moan at rampant kids and their parents not giving a damn, then you moan at a Chinese person giving a damn, by using military style stress position techniques.
Non annoying and inquisitive kids make me smile, is the moral of the story...I wish I still had that mindset.
Some of the questions they ask is challenging, but fun.
