My Moll bought a round of drinks last night then nearly fainted when her bill arrived.
"Bangkok is more expensive than Glasgow, " she moaned - and she was right. But only as far as the western style pubs go.
You'll pay £8 - £13 in most Glasgow pubs for a bottle of wine. £18 plus equiv seems to be the going rate here. From what I can see all pints in the western pubs are at least the same or more expensive - and that includes the local brews, never mind imports.
Food? Hmmm - main courses tend to run 250 - 300 baht equiv in Glasgow - same same here.
Am I moaning? No - just observing. The Moll is moaning though. I can see her sitting outside 7/11 with her bottle of rouge and dainty wee glass.
She'll be sitting alone, though - I'm going to the pub.

Carlsberg 120 Baht at the Robin Hood all day.
Even two for one at Landmark is cheaper than a pint in Scotland...unless you like spit with your sawdust or God forbid the rules and chavviness of Witherspoon's.

I was in Glasgow last winter, after an absence of 9 years, and found the prices most agreeable. Christmas day pint with mrs onions and my dad at the Carnarvon on St George's Rd , 3 pints of large at £6 something. On the other hand we were in Oran Mor on new years day, as the football was cancelled, and a few pints easily turned into £19.50 , but what a wonderful boozer that is.
