Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday (Dec 8) an inquiry into why almost 1,200 indigenous women have been murdered or gone missing over decades. I am optimistic that the federal inquiry will help Canada move forward with respect for First Nations peoples. While former Prime Minister Stephen Harper reacted with indifference and did not commit to implementing any of the proposed steps for reconciliation, Trudeau's Liberal Party immediately vowed to adopt all 94 recommendations.
