Up to the mountain beyond Mae Wang to have a look at the elephants - and they looked perfectly healthy to me. He then took me to a Royal Project further up the mountain, to show me how much work was being done to promote agriculture in the mountains - what a stunning area.
The General is a pal of the guy that trains me and just wanted to show me and The Moll around. Great day.

I didn't take many. I talked to an American resident in Mae Wang who said that it will soon be the new Mae Rim tourist area once the dual road is complete. The camps and tourist attractions are situated in Mae Win, just a few clicks up a lovely vally from Mae Wang - I think there's fpur camps in tha area and I counted around 40 elephants. I'm not keen on the Howdah's ( baskets ) however I keep asking the campaigners against Howdah's for scientific proof that the elephants can't hack carrying the baskets and that seems to stump them. In saying that, I would like to see them phased out. Here's some pics -
