Qatar two thumbs up. Royal Brunei is the pits they play Islamic prayers before takeoff and no alcohol. Interesting as they are two Islamic countries. But of the two, which is the less likely to have a fanatical Moslem pilot who will plunge the plane into the sea whilst crying "allahu akbar"? Or a devout follower of the "prophet" who will blow himself up in midflight? (Personally I will not fly with any airline from a Moslem country. I like life too much.) Qatar have western taxi drivers, I personally think you have bigger chance of being blown out the sky flying "Infidel Airlines" anyway.... Its rumoured Qatar funds a lot of terrorist groups anyway, so Jihadi John is not going to p**s them off by blowing their flag ship carrier out the sky

At one time I had free flying privileges worldwide with United....Once you get to know the different employees & they knew/remembered me they would upgrade without asking whenever they could.....
Usually ALL in flight meals aren't for me as I don't eat chicken - and that's usually the old standby....If I could order ahead then I got something different.....
The best meals & service I had were when flying 1st class international....Real 7 course meals with drink/wine choices (United).....
It was kind of a different world - some would fly to Paris just for a meal....
Flying without that privilege Qatar airlines has good service....There were others better than the average but they've pretty much blurred themselves together over time....

I was always a big fan of Singapore Air, but they have priced themselves out of the market, when I fly home I am pretty limited as the airlines I can fly on "direct" and Sing were getting far too expensive, decided have look a Emirates or Qatar, was a bit reluctant with Qatar, as had a bad report about them from a friend from a few years previous. Pricing was about the same, between Emirates and Qatar but the Qatar scheduling fitted my dates better, decided to given them a try two years ago for the first time and was pleasantly surprised so at the moment they are my preferred going home

A friend was flying home from Ranong to Frankfurt.. At that time it was Phuket Air to Bangkok. He ate the inflight meal, the second leg with Lufthansa he spent most of it sat on the toilet clutching his guts. He's lucky he even got home given that it was a Phuket Air flight. Their demise was rather infamous.

I have certainly had good meals in Biz with Singapore, Etihad and Cathay. I thought Thai was rather average, but comfortable enough.
I generally fly Etihad these days, as being a top tier member there are always upgrades etc, and I find it a comfortable airline, even when I fly Economy. The food in general is edible.
Some of the more interesting or bad food has been the Cheese and Carrot Sandwich which was a regular serving on Bangkok-Trat (Bangkok Airways), the dreadful food served by Thai including the toxic organge juice, BA (everything), Jet with cardboard Nan bread and American.

Ice cream was good BKK-Samui at one time and the Chinese chicken balls and noodles on the Same route a decade ago were verging on restaurant quality starter.

Air Asia food is good. Singapore Air have gone down hill. Last time I had their chicken casserole thing it reminded me of my great aunts rabbit stew in white sauce. It was bad.

Flying back to BKK with EVA; always happy with the whole product. While the food isn't that great the portions are at least large and they are generous with the beer. Great entertainment and cabin crew is the norm and makes the flight go quick. It'll beat having to transfer in Mumbai at any rate.

Compared to the other major players who fly out of Australia to Asia TA is nearly always the best price and in all the years I have flown with them I have never had a problem with their service. Last time I was in a wheelchair and they really looked after me. The food on both airlines I mentioned is good, and I actually look forward to mealtime when I fly now. Flew from Singapore to Brisbane with Queers&Nymphos once (will never fly with them again, internationally) the food was shite and the hosties were nasty old dragons who treated the passengers with contempt. As sen said, Royal Brunei food was nothing to rave about. I did two return trips through Brunei years ago and over-nighted there each time. Beautiful hotel and very nice people. The hotel restaurant was run by Chinese (as was the secret bar which did not actually exist wink wink) and the food was overpriced rubbish. Funny thing happened the first time I flew through there, at the passport desk, I told the girl I was only staying one night in transit to Bangkok and she gave me a one year visa ffs !

Only for stuff coming back up, not out of your backside. Be imaginative. Those bags would be equally good for poo. You must be taking the p**s ! Just in case - * Note to self - If you ever find yourself seated next to AyG on a flight, and he produces a brown paper bag, run to the other end of the plane *

Don't get me started on Air Asia. My one and only flight from Thailand to Australia with them was a complete disaster and I put them on the airline blacklist. The only good thing about them was it was cheap but there is a very good reason for that. Low baggage allowance with huge fee per kilo if you are over, have to pay for meals and drinks, lousy service compared to the bigger airlines (my flight from Bangkok - KL was cancelled at the last minute and I had a hell of a time arranging another flight to KL) Have flown with Thai Airways ever since and enjoyed the yummy food and drinks. I cannot fault their hosties and stewards, they are so pleasant and helpful, even when dealing with arrogant and annoying passengers.
